It is alarming the increased dependence of our politicians and even the "so called" church leaders on occult powers. The experience of two state governors; Anambra and Ogun states were publicized but many other governors and their cabinet members are involved in taking oaths at shrines to confirm allegiance. This is ungodly because idolatry brings about God's wrath, judgment, curses, captivity, and defilement, famine, drought cloud of darkness, reprobate minds, evil kings and demonic presence in lands.
• Bring repentance for the sin of idolatry and occultist practices by our political leaders that brings us as a nation under God's judgment.
• Ask God to convict such leaders who are involved in these sinful acts of their wickedness and that they repent and turn to the true God, (Prov. 28:13, 1John 1:8, 9)
• Pray that all leaders involved in occult practices be exposed and judged if they do not repent.
• Pray that those who trust in the true God record excellent results in their governance so that those who trust in evil powers may learn from this, (Dan. 1:10).
• Pray for our leaders to trust wholly in the God of Israel for wisdom, knowledge, understanding, protection, provision, strength, and ability, (Prov. 3:3-6)

• Nigeria is the Lord's and its fullness therefore: the government and people, the land and all its wealth, all belong to Him. Jesus is Lord in Nigeria from the north to the south, from east to west.
This is a very crucial part of a nation's wellbeing. This is what determines the standard of living of the people-poor or rich. Nigeria is a richly endowed nation but the living standard of most Nigerians is less than $1 per day (N160). Corruption is the largest problem followed by illiteracy, over population, mismanagement, suboptimal utilization of agriculture and mineral resources because of crude oil and political instability.
Nigeria derives billions of dollars from export of crude oil and natural gas but there is much corruption and wastage in this sector. A committee set up in 2012 reported that billions of dollars were lost through corruption, inefficiency, wastage, reckless spending, smuggling, illegal bunkering, etc.
The word of God commands us to pray for the peace of Jerusalem until its righteousness goes forth as brightness and its salvation as a lamp that burns, (Isa. 62:1). Also, we are commanded to pray for Jerusalem with a promise that we shall prosper as we love her (Psa. 122:6), and those who curse her will be cursed by God, (Gen 12:3).
